Chinese peacekeeping and anti-riot squad increased its efforts in
patrolling and guarding around the voter registration spots in Haiti's
capital Port-au-Prince to ensure voters' safety on Dec. 21. As Jan. 8,
Haiti's general election date, approaches, various criminal cases and
demonstrations frequently occurred and intelligence shows that attacks on
UN workers are more likely to surface.
