www.chinanews.cn 2005-11-08 16:54:39

Located in Huaiyang County, Henan province, Taihao Mausoleum was where
ancient Chinese ancestor Fuxi founded his capital and passed away. Legend
said more than 6,000 years ago, Fuxi, leader of the Three August Ones,
built the capital and ruled his kingdom in Wanqiu (now called Huaiyang
County) in the east of Henan province. After his death, later generations
built a mausoleum and temple on the spot where he lay forever, therefore
Huiyang was also known as "Capital of Dragon". From Feb. 2 to March 3 in
lunar calendar, tourists and pilgrims from all around China gather in
front of the newly refurbished Taihao Mausoleum, participating in this
splendid ancestor worship function.
